Women of Ontario Social Enterprise Network (WOSEN)
Learning design and toolkit development

Values-based facilitator training resources

WOSEN sought to develop a guide to support their new facilitators and align their network. With design principals articulated WOSEN sought to ensure they could be actioned throughout their programming. Without concrete tips, design principles such as Inclusive, Accessible, Anti-Oppressive, Decolonized, Systems-Informed, and Human-Centered can be challenging to implement consistently.

Pure & Applied developed a Facilitator’s Guide and Workbook to reflect WOSEN’s design principles and support facilitators with an actionable resource to prepare, execute and learn from their program delivery over time. The Facilitator’s Guide and Workbook were developed in close collaboration with facilitators from each member organization including Pillar Nonprofit Network, Centre for Social Innovation, Nordik Institute, and the Social Venture Exchange (SVX).

Concordia University
Virtual conference organization and execution

Filling a higher-ed curriculum gap with a virtual conference

After a year of reactive online teaching brought on by the effects of the pandemic, Concordia Education Department’s two resources centres ECEE and TESL identified a gap in their teacher-curriculum – gaps related to online and blended teaching. To respond quickly, the two centres partnered with Pure & Applied to offer their communities two-weeks of training and connecting through a virtual conference, called Tackling Online and Blended Teaching: A Virtual Festival.

Pure & Applied guided the team through a process to ensure that their vision and their knowledge of their community informed all decisions. We led a collaborative learning design process and the event’s planning, marketing and execution. Pure & Applied sourced speakers from the local community and its international network of education experts to bring the very best of online learning to Concordia’s community.

Information & Communications Technology Council of Canada (ICTC)
eLearning Development for University Students

Work-integrated-learning to rebrand a sector and attract students to it’s workforce

COVID-19 devastated a number of industries, but perhaps none more immediately than retail. Needing to adapt and innovate the Canadian government (ESDC) funded a work-integrated-learning (WIL) program to pre-skill and attract English- and French-speaking university students to aid in the rebuilding and rebranding effort.

ICTC, CIETECH, Pure & Applied and universities across the country collaborated to develop and deliver a cohort-based hybrid online course with asynchronous learning materials, such as instructional videos, case studies, and interactive activities all within Thinkific LMS. The aim of the course is to attract students in fields the industry needs to build capacity in such as engineering, business, and marketing. To attract these students we aimed to provide the most exciting picture of retail by working with CEOs, innovators and experts in the field of intelligent retail and bring the most emerging knowledge to the course and its students.
